The Panthers improved to 3-0 on the season with a commanding 30-3 victory over the Jaguars on September 22 at home. Charlotte extended their division lead under head coach Francisco Sather by holding the Jaguars to just one field goal while scoring 30 points of their own.
Charlotte received the opening kickoff and began the game with strong field position but suffered a first-quarter turnover when running back John Blum fumbled, recovered by Jacksonville. However, the Panthers defense limited the Jaguars’ offensive opportunities throughout the game.
The scoring opened late in the first quarter when quarterback Terrell Stevenson connected with tight end Raymond Ives on a 4-yard touchdown pass with 33 seconds remaining, giving the Panthers a 7-0 lead after Benjamin Delarosa’s successful extra point.
The Panthers extended their lead early in the second quarter with Delarosa’s 32-yard field goal. Later in the quarter, Stevenson and Ives teamed up again for a 5-yard touchdown pass that extended the lead to 17-0 following another Delarosa extra point.
Jacksonville avoided a shutout in the third quarter with a 56-yard field goal from kicker Roger Vargas, bringing the score to 17-3. This was their only score of the day.
Charlotte then added to their margin in the fourth quarter with another Delarosa field goal, a 23-yard attempt, making it 20-3. Shortly thereafter, Stevenson completed a touchdown pass to Ives for the third time, this time an 8-yard reception, putting the game effectively out of reach with a 27-3 score after the extra point.
The Panthers offense was balanced and efficient, with Stevenson completing 22 of 34 passes for 157 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for an additional 12 yards. John Blum led the rushing attack with 136 yards on 43 carries. Raymond Ives was a key offensive weapon, recording 74 receiving yards along with his three touchdown receptions.
Defensively, Charlotte applied consistent pressure, recording five sacks and forcing a fumble that contributed to Jacksonville’s limited offensive production. Defensive end Theodore Fulton recorded two sacks and forced a fumble, showcasing the Panthers’ dominant front.
Jacksonville struggled offensively, completing just 9 of 20 passes for 69 yards without scoring a touchdown. They were hampered by seven penalties for 43 yards and recorded only 40 rushing yards on 18 carries.
The win maintains the Panthers atop their division standings with a perfect 3-0 record, including a 2-0 mark in division play. The Jaguars fell to 1-2, dropping their second consecutive game under head coach Gerald Bonilla.
The Panthers will look to continue their strong start when they face their next opponent in Week 4, aiming to build on their current momentum and defensive stoutness.
