The Charlotte Panthers secured a 24-15 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on August 24, 2052, in their preseason Week 3 matchup. Panthers head coach Francisco Sather guided his team to a solid performance marked by a strong ground game and timely defense.

The Panthers struck first in the opening quarter with a 6-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Terrell Stevenson to tight end Raymond Ives. Benjamin Delarosa followed with a successful extra point, putting Charlotte up 7-0 with just over two minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Cincinnati struggled offensively throughout the game, completing just 15 of 29 passes for 113 yards and one touchdown. Their rushing attack was limited to 14 yards on 12 carries but did manage one rushing touchdown. Brian Sims, Bengals quarterback, threw an interception in the second quarter that was returned for a significant return before being recovered.

Charlotte leaned heavily on the running game, amassing 253 yards on 40 carries. Running back Donald Nowlin contributed 91 rushing yards and 37 receiving yards. John Blum added 90 rushing yards, 14 receiving yards, and one receiving score. Russell Brown also contributed with 71 rushing yards and a receiving touchdown. Terrell Stevenson passed for 200 yards and one touchdown.

The Panthers' defense was impactful, recording nine sacks and forcing multiple turnovers. They recovered two fumbles and intercepted one pass during the contest. Although Charlotte committed seven penalties for 45 yards, their defense held strong in important situations.

Charlotte extended its lead early in the third quarter with a touchdown reception by wide receiver Richard Blackstone from Stevenson. John Blum then scored on a one-yard run, raising the Panthers’ lead to 17-0. Shortly after, Cincinnati cut into the deficit when Clarence McNeil returned a punt 100 yards for a touchdown, followed by a successful extra point.

Benjamin Delarosa also contributed three field goal attempts, converting one from 20 yards late in the second quarter.

The Bengals managed to narrow the gap with a rushing touchdown from Barry Rhee early in the fourth quarter but were unable to close the full margin before the game ended.

The Panthers did not convert any third-down attempts in the game, but their rushing effectiveness and defensive pressure compensated, allowing them to control the pace and secure the win. Head coach Francisco Sather will likely view this game as a step forward in team cohesion heading into the regular season.
