Sad loss Omaha not just for Liverpool but the entire footballing community ,everything you read about this man was a glowing reference .RIP Gerard ????
Not everything, David Ginola and Houlier had a huge falling out when Gerard was the French National manager. Houlier blamed Ginola for a mistake which led to a goal that meant France failed to qualify for the World Cup Finals - going out in the qualifiers.
GH was not a renowned footballer, best described by Danny Murphy who said 'For a guy who couldn't kick a ball straight, he really knew his football'. His time at Liverpool was mixed, winning a treble (both domestic cups and a Europa League), suffering a heart attack, ending the boot room era when Roy Evans was moved on - Gerard came in as a Co-Manager to work alongside Evans and arguably not getting enough out of one of the most talented teams the club ever had.
Sad to see him go. RIP
