I'm ripping off the band-aid and scrapping everything to go with the new philosophies. Since I play with some of the Beta guys, it's just a matter of copying them, then tweaking. I'll be behind since I've never run these playbooks, but I don't see the point of waiting.
To be clear a moment, I wouldn't copy anything that I'm doing. I've been rotating through plays to figure out what works. The playbook I run in beta often looks completely different than a standard league because I'm testing specific play types.
For starters, I call MORE medium and long passing plays now than I ever have. So I'm definitely behind as well in terms of play knowledge.
Sorry, Seth. I was looking more at Ray's book ;) J/K
Got to look at results from both USFL/WLF and MLF games last night. I'll let my new playbook ride for another game or two, but I think I'm on the right path. This is actually kinda fun. And I got into trouble on plays with little play knowledge, but that's to be expected.
My book is essentially the same for two beta seasons . It was passes where the backs stayed in to block mostly to counter all the checkdowns . This latest update has made it still a TE focused offense with timely dump offs.
I only played one game without that read buffer error, so my experience is limited to recent changes only going to my GPA as it would throw my calls to long and medium plays that would be a drop or sack. 4.3 and most of 4.4 I didn't get sacked but that's different now.
The timing seems key on passes as the clock seems generic at best, and qbs are not running that can't help. And then play selection . ..really just put guys anywhere where they will get targets with space to work with. Ignore formations and get the plays that work. Jk..well
Really the same plan is ran in all leagues and the results are varied. Some other MFN 1 users and most users are doing better than me with this change, and I started changing gameplans seasons ago in other leagues to get familiarity up. I don't see much of a difference , but like I said just recently I went away from deeper passes. Really low play knowledge stinks though.
Taking out that deep, pass penalty would help, but LBS pursuit angles are off. When tracking backs running and receiving as well as covering TES . This seems a bit loose compared to dbs and wr interactions on the outside .
If this were tightened up qbs would be forced to look elsewhere . Defenses would be even better but that's cause you don't have to play a deep defense under this code with that long distance nerf combined with better coverage on the outside .
Cause oline needs an evaluation , same for zone, and running/blocking in general . .. imo, but qbs could run a bit more too. Even if none of those is on the docket it's still exciting to see what's next !
